An Honest Introduction
I am a firm believer in "honesty is the best policy". So I feel it is only fitting that the first blog post to my brand new website be an honest glimpse into who I am and what I hope to accomplish.
I have always loved photography. There is something wonderfully refreshing in seeing an ordinary object captured extraordinarily. Photography for me, is like seeing the world for the first time. And for the first time, in what seems like a really long time, I feel passionate and excited about work. I can't really even call this work. I love this job. I love taking pictures, I mean really love it! And the more I do it the better I get at it (at least in my mind).
So here it is, the thing I love doing being put out there into the world. My passion and joy being shared with others. And to be honest...it's a little intimidating. As exciting as it is to launch my own business, it makes me nervous. I'm nervous of being criticized, or worse, failing. I'm sure there will always be people out there that won't appreciate or enjoy my work. And that's ok. I'm afraid of not being successful. I don't mean making a bunch of money. I mean not being able to do the thing that gives me joy. I'm afraid that once I let the thing I love loose into to the world, I might somehow loose it.
But I guess there is no way of knowing if I'll be a success unless I let go of all my expectations and focus on my enthusiasm. So for the first time I'm letting all the "what if's" go, and just letting God direct my steps. I will always give my all in my work. I will continue to pour myself in to every image I put out.
Ultimately my goal is to produce photographs that convey my hope, enthusiasm, and love for the ordinary...And survive out there in the world long enough to bring someone else hope, enthusiasm, and love.
